See the sad story of the most isolated / loneliest tree on Earth
Arbre du Ténéré also known as Tree of Ténéré in English, in the Saharan region of Niger was the only present tree. It happened to the only tree for 250 miles in any direction. There was, for decades, the most isolated tree on the planet. If that was excavated in 1938 in the vicinity of the tree, the roots of the tree were observed descending by more than 100 meters of sand to reach the water. None of its branches were ever cut for firewood and no camel was always allowed to eat its leaves. The Touareg nomads Region held it sacred.
